Picture Perfect Tuesday: Père Lachaise Resident

This is another image that I snapped while in Paris, more then a few years ago, at Père Lachaise Cemetery. We wandered through this cemetery as ever music lover does to pay respected to Jim Morison’s resting place. However, his grave is not what I am sharing today. This cemetery is very old and full of interesting things to photograph. Like this:

Picture Perfect Tuesday: Doorway to Salvation

This image was taken at St. Michan’s Church located in Dublin Ireland. This old church was simple, yet beautiful.  Interesting fact about St. Michan’s Church, underneath it are five long burial vaults with mummified remains of many of Dublin’s most influential 17th, 18th and 19th century families and apparently one crusader.

Picture Perfect Tuesday: Catacombes de Paris

Today I am sharing an older image that I took while in the Catacombes de Paris. I had to use the available light from a flood light in the tunnel as no flash photography is allowed. This isn’t because it’s a mass burial site, but rather because the light degrades the bones. So this was taken hand-held, while bracing against a passage frame for stability on a 3 second exposure.catacombes_de_paris

Picture Perfect Tuesday: Hydrant

One of my goals when taking a picture is to take something we see everyday and give it new life, like this hydrant. The next time you are out and about taking pictures, try lying on the ground for a different angle, or even just tilt your framing. Taking a different angle can add interest to almost anything – as can the PS Express app. I used the “super-punch” filter for this one.

Picture Perfect Tuesday: Perspective

Perspective: A particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view.

Perspective: The art of drawing solid objects on a two-dimensional surface so as to give the right impression of their height, width, depth, and position in relation to each other when viewed from a particular point.

Perspective: What makes a photo interesting.

Personally, I find images that show a different viewpoint (or perspective) make the most interesting ones. This is why when everyone is snapping a picture of something, I’ll be that person off to the side, often lying on the ground, looking to create something different.
